Friend of the Arts

The Friends of the Arts fund was established in 2016 to support pre-professional and performance opportunities for students in the arts.  While other grants exist for student opportunities connected to curriculum, this fund can award students with small supplementary support for projects or opportunities not associated with any course.

Advancement in the field of arts often requires students to pursue unpaid internships and other opportunities as an invaluable way to network with professionals and to bolster resumes.  While the merits of these unpaid experiential opportunities can be manifest, the financial hardships that come with them can be intimidating or disqualifying.  With a maximum award of $500, this grant should not make the difference between a student accepting the opportunity or not, but can enable student applicants to seize an invaluable artistic opportunity and to worry a little less about the financial implications of accepting it.
